Our History— The Messmer Legacy follows in a long tradition of culinary and service excellence started over one hundred years ago at the famed Messmer Family Restaurant. Nestled high up near the Austrian alps in the picturesque town of Lochau, a small distance from famed Olympic sky slopes and near the culturally vibrant town of Bregenz and the renowned Festpiele opera festival, the Messmer Family Restaurant became famous throughout Europe, serving everyone from local workers to famous opera singers, athletes and politicians. Our philosophy is simple: life should be a celebration and food should be at the center of it. Not just food, but people eating together, laughing together and enjoying each other’s company. The Germans have a word for this type of atmosphere— gemütlich, meaning home-like, cozy.
